Dove hunters throughout the state have a special opportunity to introduce a young person to hunting through STEP OUTSIDE youth dove hunts sponsored by the Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division of the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.

Want to introduce a young person to hunting? The perfect place to start is with a STEP OUTSIDE youth dove hunt, sponsored by the Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division of the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. In cooperation with landowners, local volunteers, businesses and organizations, these dove hunts are scheduled at 54 sites in 28 counties throughout the state. Young hunters must be less than 16 years old and accompanied by an adult at least 25 years old or their parent, with a valid state hunting license and a Harvest Information Program (H.I.P.) stamp. All are encouraged to wear eye protection and ear plugs.
Pre-registration will open Wednesday, Aug. 20 for the North Zone and Wednesday, Sept. 24 for the South Zone. Pre-registration is necessary for all hunts. South Zone counties include Barbour, Baldwin, Coffee, Covington, Dale, Escambia, Geneva, Henry, Houston and Mobile counties. The remaining counties are in the north zone.
Consult the list of hunt dates and sites listed below for contact information. When you pre-register, you will receive directions to the field, start time, and other pertinent information. Before each hunt there will be a short welcome session with reminders of hunting safety precautions. Dove hunting will begin immediately afterwards.
